For Life’s Great Causes – 3 Fantastic Causes to Support this July

The past eighteen months have been challenging for everyone, and the pandemic has tested us all in ways we never expected. But it has also, for many, bought us closer together.

As we begin to return to a sense of normal, we felt it was time to pause and to look at some of the extraordinary work that is happening across the country, and to say a huge thank you to those who have worked so incredibly hard to help us get through these difficult times.

Therefore, this week we are shining a spotlight on three incredible upcoming charity initiatives that we feel everyone should get behind and support this July!

Sunday 4th July – National Thank You Day

The UK’s first ever national Thank You Day is taking place on Sunday 4th July, and it’s all about saying thank you to all those in our communities who’ve helped us through the crisis so far.

Whether you want to say thank you to a nurse, a volunteer, your neighbour or your children's teacher, lets join together and throw Britain's biggest ever thank you party.

There are numerous ways to take part, from hosting a celebration event, supporting via social media using the hashtag #ThankYouDay, to taking part in the day’s ‘Cheers for Volunteers’ - the aim is for as many people as possible to be involved, however they would like, so everyone who deserves it gets a thank you.

For everything you need to take part, including resources and promotional content, head to the Thank You Day website. Just remember to stay safe and follow Covid-19 guidelines.

Monday 5th July - The NHS Big Tea Party

Help celebrate the NHS Big Tea and say a big THANK YOU to our NHS Heroes.

There is no more fitting occasion than the anniversary of the NHS to recognise the doctors, nurses, porters, cleaners, administration and support staff at the NHS that have gone above and beyond to help provide extraordinary care throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

On 5th July, the NHS will be launching their Big Tea event, where all staff will be treated to tea and cake to celebrate the birthday of our most treasured institution. And you can get involved with your own NHS Big Tea Party event too!

More information on the event and how you can take part can be found here. If you would like to make a donation click here, and quote ‘NHSBIGTEA’. There has never been a better excuse for a brew!

Friday 9th July - Action for Children launches its Boycott your Bed campaign

Ditch the duvet. Banish the blanket. Pack the pillow and Boycott your Bed on Friday 9th July.

Challenge yourself to spend the night in the most unusual place you can think of. Wherever you sleep, the money you raise can make children’s dreams of a safe and happy childhood come true.

We are asking children and families across the UK on Friday 9th of July to Boycott their Bed in aid of Action for Children. Join forces with family, friends, or colleagues, and spend the night in the most unusual place you can think of. Will you camp out under the stars or under the stairs? Bunk down in the bathroom or the back garden? Before you settle in for the night, don’t forget to join Action for Children for an evening of virtual entertainment packed with famous faces, bringing people together across the UK.

Boycott your Bed and you will bring hope to the vulnerable children in the UK hit hardest by the pandemic. You can sign up today here.
