Celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in Hertfordshire

This year, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British monarch in history to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service to the UK and the Commonwealth.

To commemorate this incredible milestone, the nation has been awarded an extended four-day bank holiday weekend from 2-5 June 2022, and an extensive programme of events will be taking place across the county to celebrate this most special of occasions.

From planting trees, street parties, bandstand concerts, landmark beacon lighting and a whole host of community events, there’s plenty going on in and around Hertfordshire this June.

So, get the bunting out and make sure to royally celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee!

St Albans Platinum Party

Thursday 2 June | 3pm – 10pm | St Peter’s Street, St Albans

Come along to enjoy an afternoon of music from across the decades, as well as a variety of food and drink stalls and children’s activities, culminating in a beacon-lighting ceremony on the roof of the Museum & Gallery at 9.15pm, to tie in with the national beacon celebrations. Entertainment and music will celebrate the diverse and inclusive society we have become over the course of the Queen’s 70-year reign, with a multicultural programme including party music from different traditions. Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Party

Thursday 2 June | 12pm – 6pm | Harpenden Common

Harpenden Town Council is organising the Community Festival to kick off the Town’s celebrations in Harpenden on Thursday 2nd June. The event will include live music and entertainment, food and drink stalls, outdoor tables and community seating, games, face painting, interactive performances and many more exciting family friendly activities. BerkoFest Platinum Jubilee Concert

Thursday 2 June | 12pm – 8pm | Berkhamsted Cricket Club

BerkoFest is a boutique, family-friendly festival which celebrates the very best in local music, food and entertainment. This year this festival is being held to coincide with the Platinum Jubliee celebrations' bank holiday weekend and generously supported by Berkhamsted Town Council. The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebration at Hertford Castle

Thursday 2 June | 12pm – 4pm | Hertford Castle

Celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee in style at Hertford Castle. This special event will take place on the Bank Holiday Thursday with a Castle Open Day, brass band concert, afternoon tea and traditional lawn games.

Platinum Party in the Park

Thursday 2 June | 1:15pm – 10pm | Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead

There will be a series of free entertainment and festivities in Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead for all the family to enjoy, including live music, town criers and an evening Bugler performance. The event ends with the lighting of the Platinum Jubilee Beacon and a firework finale. Find out more here.

The Big Platinum Festival

Thursday 2 June | 6pm – 10pm | Greenwood Park, St Albans

St Stephen Parish Council welcome everyone from the community to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style. On stage will be a number of bands showcasing local talent. A variety of hot food stalls will be available as well as a beer tent for refreshments. Greenwood are also taking part in the National beacon lighting event and an exciting firework finale to close. The Platinum Jubilee Weekend

Saturday 4 June & Sunday 5 June | Ashridge House

Join Ashridge House for an incredible weekend in celebration of Her Majesty's incredible 70-year reign. The line-up of events includes The Best of British Car Show, Jubilee Dinner and Dancing and The Giant Jubilee Picnic. Come to one event, come to all! Royal Connection Tour

Jersey Farm Woodland Park Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration

Saturday 4 June | 1pm – 11pm | Jersey Farm Woodland Park

Come along to Jersey Farm Woodland Park between Sandridge and St Albans for a fun filled day with family activities throughout the afternoon, including scout games, dog show, forest craft activities and live music throughout with local, popular artists playing into the evening. The Radlett Village Big Jubilee Lunch

Sunday 5 June | 12pm – 5pm | Radlett

Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Sunday 5 June | 10am – 5pm | Hemel Hempstead Town Centre

Entertainment, activities and picnic nibbles…Sounds like you’re in for a Jubilee treat at Hemel Hempstead Town Centre. Listen to the talented musicians and watch some incredible theatre performances! Don’t forget to grab your lunch sourced by local businesses to enjoy surrounded by the street party. There will also be a vintage red double decker hop on hop off bus for you to take a trip on.

The Queen’s Green Canopy

This unique tree-planting initiative, to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022, invites everyone - from individuals and groups to villages, schools and companies - to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”.
